Hi, I'm Kels!

The Best Sourdough Glazed Donuts

Do you remember that friend you had as a child/teenager, the one who always had the best food? I do. Her pantry always contained cookies and chips, and her dad would frequently make us delicious smoothies or steak and shrimp (which I didn’t fully appreciate at the time). I had my first taste of sushi at her house, which led to me running to the bathroom (another episode where I didn’t truly appreciate what I was eating). I love her, and I love her family. I spent a lot of my time there during high school. One really nice thing about good friends is that they are willing to share their recipes. Her mom shared one such recipe with us for Dad’s cookies.

These cookies became one of my family’s favorites to make and share with others. I’ve always had a good response from them in the past. However, like most of the recipes in my box, it calls for refined ingredients. I was thrilled when my mom told me she had very successfully swapped out the ingredients for a healthier, natural alternative.

Changing your favorite recipes can be frustrating, because sometimes they just don’t taste that great. You don’t need to worry about that with these, they are SCRUMPTIOUS.

  1. Hehehe. Somehow this recipe escaped my memory and my recipe book….. what is this coconut sugar you speak of? Grocery store? Amazon? Coconut distillery in your backyard?

Yay! Can't wait to make these!!

Hil- the coconut sugar I bought was from Amazon. If you click on my “store” link at the top, it's in there, along with basically everything else I buy. I haven't seen it in any stores yet, but you would have more luck down there I'm sure. Seriously, these are SO good.

    I STILL HAVEN’T MADE THESE!!
    WHY?!?
Its going on my “to do” list.
Also – really wish I could go to your natural yeast workshop in Boise… I need a refresher and the motivation again.
Love all your stuff. ALL OF IT!!
    You da best.

HA. I will come back up there and do another one, don’t you worry! and maybe a follow-up class for those who came last time, like we were talking, maybe a Q&A, just sit and ask me anything, troubleshoot, maybe actually mix up bread together and show it at different stages, etc. The wheels are turning!
