The Best Sourdough Glazed Donuts

I love it when a good kitchen hack works out. This homemade condensed tomato soup worked perfectly for me and I will be using it from now on!

A few weeks ago I was taking a meal to my friend who just had a baby. I decided on sloppy joe’s because they’re easy, and make great leftovers. HOWEVER, I no longer keep condensed tomato soup in my house, and the recipe called for “1/2 can tomato soup.”

The recipe I was making is the one I grew up with and have made for years. It’s delicious. I will post it soon. Since I couldn’t waver from it, I decided to make my own dang soup and it worked wonderfully!

This isn’t the only recipe in my box calling for tomato soup, so now I have a healthy and fast alternative!

Note: if I were to make actual soup out of this, I would add a bunch of spices, this is purely to fill a void in my life for a few recipes I have that call for condensed soup!

If you are making it into actual soup, I would add some spices! I haven’t tried it as a soup, just the condensed version to use in recipes. I think it would be pretty bland as a soup — maybe add some pepper, oregano/basil/parsley? Either or all of those!

This sounds like a great substitute – Thanks for the recipe. Just curious, though, whether you use a 6-ounce or a 15-ounce can of tomato paste.
